Epson Epson Stylus Color 740

Epson 740 won't print after reset

I cleaned the waste ink pads after the maintenance signal. The printer starts up with a ready (green) light and seems to run the regular cleaning cycle, etc., but when I try to print anything I get some faint horizontal lines across the paper. Can anyone suggest what I should do?

What pads did you clean exactly? The waste ones or the small square ones which sit directly underneath the head parking position?

When I took the case off and was able to get under the head parking position, I found that the pads there were connected to very long pads that went the whole width of the printer. They were really soaked too. I finally got them dry and replaced everything and the printer seems to "run" just fine--makes all the right sounds, but doesn't actually print words. I don't see that anything I removed and replaced should be affecting the communication with the computer, but evidently it is.

What does a 'nozzle test print' show?
Have you run a head clean from 'utilities' in the Epson s/w?

Its possible that you have not reconnected the tube back onto the pump cap assy (the unit which sits under the head). This would cause no ink to flow. Check to see if it is connected properly and that may solve it.
