Hp HP Color LaserJet 2840

Problem with my HP 2840

Everytime I print more than 2 pages it goes into cleaning mode.

I have to insert a piece of paper and press the Check button.

The paper goes in and then comes out and then it calibrates.

Goes back into ready mode.

2 -> 3 more pages then the whole process starts over.

Any ideas?

I saw a similar problem on a different HP color laser, replacing the fuser exit flag fixed it, the flag was part of the top cover.

I am having this problem also. Not sure what to do about the constant cleaning issue.

What is a fuser exit flag?
Is there an alternative way to fix this?

I read somewhere about constant callibrating. Will this solve the problem.?

It's a piece of pivoting black plastic. When the paper hits it, it blocks an optical sensor at one end and that signals the printer that the paper is exiting. The fuser is the part where the paper gets heated and the toner melted on it.

Thanks Moe. I suppose I asked this in response to the previous thread. Now that I know what this is, if I replace the fuser exit flag will it solve the problem of this printer constantly wanting to do a clean. Nearly every hour now.

I have a business where I receive many faxes and the machine shuts down until a piece of paper is inserted into the manual tray for it to complete a cleaning process. This holds back any faxes I am receiving.

We are now loading paper into the manual tray so it will start but this has some obvious problems like paper getting jammed now because it is exposed to the elements in the room.

This is very frustrating and I cannot get anything off the HP website. Please anyone that can stop this constant cleaning, it is driving me crazy. Aaaarrrggghhh!
