Sharp Sharp AL 1655CS

Sharp AL-1655CS Add paper tray 1 error

I've got this Sharp AL-1655CS copier/printer that is flashing "Add paper to tray#1" when tray one is full of paper. Have tried fanning paper, less paper, more paper, swapping trays, etc.

Any way to clear this message or will a sensor need replacing?

Any help appreciated.

I'm having the same problem with Tray #2.

Check inside copier where the paper lifts up-is the tray raising?
if yes then look for black plastic paper low sensor arm which hangs down where paper enters the copier. This should swing freely up and down for proper operation.

if everything is ok UNTIL you press the copy key then the pick up tires need to be cleaned or replaced. secondly the paper feed clutch spring wears out and also needs replaced.

I have not lost a paper low sensor yet since the introduction of the AL 1000 series. FWIW

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, the printer is still not working. I removed the tray, and pushed the button which indicates to the printer that the tray is in, and watched it work. I believe the problem is the sensor, because it did not come down to reach for the paper. Anyway, thanks for trying to help. Do you know where I could get this fixed? I know my printer is discontinued.

The sensor arm should dangle freely- it may be stuck or missing
you could check with a sharp dealership or an independent repair company depending on your location.
