Epson Stylus Photo 700 head in wrong place

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 700, which I stupidly forced the head position on it. Now I turn it on and the head moves back and forth makes grinding noises as it slips the belt and positions incorrectly and will not print. Instead the top light (paper) flashes, and bottom two lights (black ink, colour ink) stay hard on. Have tried doing a ROM reset, have tried cleaning the slide bar, all to no avail. Is there something else I should do? I would have thought this thing would have auto repositioned even after forcing it.

Check to make sure that the home position sensor is in place. It is located on the right side of the printer and attaches on the back side of the metal backing plate which is found behind the carriage assembly at its rest position.
Hope this helps.
