Epson Epson Stylus CX5400

Epson CX5400 Won't recognize Epson Cartridge

I installed a new Epson black cartridge into my 2 year old cx5400. Now the red error light won't go out and the error message tells me that I have a black ink cartridge error. I have rebooted, pulled the plug, and cleaned the contacts to no avail. I have even tried a generic black cartridge but still no luck. Up until now the unit has functioned well. The scanner still works. Is this repairable or is it time for a new all-in-one?

Thanks to your reply and the picture of the contacts, I notice that the left contact on the carriage is missing. The compassMicro site lists a new print head (which I assume I will need) at $102. At that price I think that I will probably be better off buying a new unit. Any further suggestions? - alirob
Look at compassmicro again and download the exploded diagram. They do sell the contact parts. But I don't see them on the regular page.
