Hp HP Color LaserJet 2840

HP 2840 Grey line on copies

I have been working on a colorlaser jet 2840 that leaves a grey line on the right edge of the monochrome copies only. It doesnt happen when printing from the computer or internal prints, nor does it happen when making color copies. I have updated the firmware and cleaned everything I can think of. Any ideas?
Does it do it on outgoing faxes too? If so I have a more pronounced version of the same problem. From left to right 1/3 streaks, 1/3 good print and 1/3 no print.
Toggle the power. Not much of a solution but...it may work

If on printhouts from the computer then the most likely cause is a bad image drum. Do a half test. Put a sheet of paper on the manual feeder and do a self test. When the back edge of the sheet enters the printer, quickly open the toner door to stop the printing. Now remove the image drum and look at the image on the paper. If the line is present, check the image drum for the same line and if present the image drum has an issue.
