HP PSC 1210 All Blinking Lights

I've had this printer for around 2 years now, it usually works fine. I just installed a new cartridge a week or so ago, and it worked fine for the first 2-4 prints...then all of a sudden all of the lights started blinking, including power, and won't respond or do anything. On, all they say is "fatal error, please service" - which doesn't help me a damn bit.

I'd be grateful if someone could please help me out here, as I'm an avid student who needs to print out reports.

There is a slim chance that a cartridge is bad.

Usually I find this is caused by a bad carriage board.

Getting a good board to test it with will be the problem.

Well crap, talk about a crappy piece of hardware. The cartridges are brand new, and I've used them to print some stuff out before the freeze.

Any other advice? - unknown
How much did it cost?

I seem to recall they were about $70, cheap equipment is not designed to last forever, 2 years is pretty good.

The current machine that does what that one did could be a C3180.

They use different cartridges.

It cost me $150, plus I've probably spent $200+ in cartridges alone.

Personally, what printer(just printer), would you recommend under $150?

If you can find a DeskJet 5650 grab it. (it uses #56 & 57 cartridges)

Search the forums for that model, they hardly ever break.

I have 8 or 9, I only have two installed though...

If you are looking for a laser printer either the HP LaserJet 4, 4+, or 5 would be the Technicians Choice.

It's true what they say: misery loves company and reading the above posts made me glad I wasn't the only one facing this problem. I have recently acquired an HP PSC 1510 All-in-One printer from a friend. When I first installed it and printed a page, it worked perfectly. I then used the scanner and it also worked great. Yesterday I bought a new pack of 100 g/m2 paper and tried to use the photocopy function in the printer after which both the 'check paper' and 'check cartridge' lights started flashing and an 'E' appeared on the display. I visited the 'troubleshooting' page on the HP website and did everything that was there to no avail. The two lights still blink constantly but sometimes only the 'check paper' light flashes. However, there's enough paper in the tray. I even changed the type of paper to 80 g/m2 but nothing changed. I can't use any of the functions of my printer and it's really frustrating. I only used it once or twice. I have to mention that even when I switch the printer off, unplug it and then restart it, the two lights start flashing instantly even without asking it to print or anything. Can anyone help me?
