Epson Epson Stylus Photo RX510

Epson rx510 Printer Error solution

Hi there :)

I had an RX510 come in that said Printer Error -> Check printer, read manual, etc.

A small download at http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html worked. I first removed the thin sponge from the far right side of the printer, cleaned it in water and put it back. Then went in and reset the Protection Counter. (Had to do it using a right click, not on the main window.)

Repair required the install of the printer driver first, but didn't need scanner driver.

Cheers, Mike.
I tried the download but nothing happens when I right click. Any clues?

Hi just thought i'd share this as it fixed my printer (RX510) after getting problems

I found this info about reseting the RX510.

*Turn the printer off.

*Press and HOLD all the following buttons: Power, Load/Eject, Stop, B&W, Color.

*RELEASE BUTTONS when you see "Init eeprom" on printer screen. Press Colour
button to clear protection counter.

This will clear the message about parts in your printer reaching the end of their useful service life (you should also wash out the ink pads in your printer when you do this)

Hope this helps.

This works! The following comments might help others:

* Do clean the ink pads. Mine were all clogged up. But be careful - they are fragile, clearly designed to break.

* Re: "RELEASE BUTTONS when you see "Init eeprom"' - My screen never said "Init eeprom" until after I released the buttons. Please hold those buttons until the screen has done some black flashing and then has been blank for a while. Then you can release it and you will see "Init eeprom"

* After you press the Color button, you will see a message saying "power sw". That means to power the printer on and off again.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,
I know you posted this a while ago, but I am currently trying to fix my families printer (Epson RX510) which keeps coming up with an Error - Replace black cartridge message (and of course they replaced it and it didn't do anything).

I have done some research and think it might be an issue with the Waste ink pad, which looks to me like it has deteriorated and is now two pieces of foam either side of a small black horn shaped piece of plastic, when I think it is supposed to be one flat piece.

Is that even the Waste ink pad? ( I can send photos if need be, but I am talking about the little foam pad just below and to the right of the springs)
Can you tell me if it is one flat piece in your printer?

Thanks Maddie

Hi all. I had similar problems as all of you with my RX510 I just bought it yesterday second hand. This info may help or encourage some one else. . .

Firstly machine could not even power on at all after all repeated logical tests, then printer error message stubbornly would not go away at all today . . .

Epson support techs (x3) said machine is completely faulty can't be fixed, no suggstions over the phone & needs servicing (if even possible to get any parts for it) or throw it away as it's 10 years old.... I've been agonizing over this all day trying to figure it out considering servicing or asking for refund from the 'gumtree' seller. I tried all of the suggestions in manuals, info, online searches plus what you've all provided & what DID WORK was the RE-SET of all the buttons together (power, load, colour, stop, B&W) as suggested by both anonymous persons 2007, 2010.

Now all keys, functions, menus, lights are working !! And i can now actually here the machine's noises ;-) . . ..

RE: INK PADS & WAST INK PADS - Im not sure exactly which parts are these or what I should do. In the printer area there's 2 areas of ink dyed spillage in spongy material = left top corner small obscure rectangle; then long strip at top accross whole width of machine. But it's certainly NOT intact that can be picked up, taken out or washed as suggested in some comments provided.

SHOULD IT LOOK LIKE THIS ? SHOULD IT BE COVERED WITH SOMETHING ? SHOULD IT BE REPLACED ? HOW DO YOU KNOW IF/WHEN IT SHOULD BE WASHED ????

ALSO - PRINT CARTRIDGE HOLDER WON'T MOVE, SITS IN RIGHT SIDE. WHAT DO I DO ?

ANY SUGGESTIONS, THANKS SO MUCH :-)

P.S. Glad I found & joined this communication sight - it's great. Thanks guys !!
