help with a paper jam problem in a hp printer

I have a b/w hp laserjet IIIp that has a problem feeding in the blank sheets of paper in. The printer starts out trying to pick up the paper but stops and gives me a paper jam message. Sometimes if I help the paper along the printer will then pick up the paper and go on to print the item that I am trying to print. I have a spare non working printer of the same model for parts but i am not shure which parts need to be changed and I can't find any info on how to get things like the paper rollers out.
Can someone please help me.

The problem you describe is usually a worn pickup roller. This site sells a kit for that problem which includes a video of how to change the parts. In my experience, the pickup roller in your other printer is likely to be worn also. But,if you want to try it, here goes:remove the top cover.Remove the side covers.Remove the DC power supply(big silvery box on right hand side in front).Remove the two screws holding the shaft of the pickup roller.Remove shaft.Thats it.

MMurray are you thinking of the right model of hp printer? The sliver plate on the right side front is the drive gears that drive pickup rollers. I got the right side of the pick up roller shaft free but there is something holding the lift side of the shaft in place. i can't fig out what is hold the left side of the shaft.
