HP laserjet 5P constant error state

My laserjet 5P has a constant error state indicated by a rear amber light. I have open and closed the top door, rear door, removed and replaced the toner cartridge, and turned in on and off several times to try to clear. There is no paper jamming the path. I recently removed the cover to clean out the printer, after which the problem occurred. Did I forget to reset something? What else could be causing the error? When I turn the power on, the motor and fan do not start, but the test lights run through their sequence. Any ideas? Thanks.
Real easy to diagnose printer problems, till someone messes with them. Then it becomes impossible. How am I supposed to figure out what you broke or put back together wrong. Educated guess would be either the fuser exit sensor, or you knocked off the manual sensor arm off the top cover and didn't realize it. Just guessing since I can't see the printer.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I agree that I could have screwed something up. Where is the fuser exit sensor located at on the 5P and how do I check it?

It's right behind the rollers on the fuser assy. Little skinny black plastic arm. It should be in the forward position towards the rollers.
