Laserwriter NT problems

I had my Apple Laserwriter hooked up to my
PC compatible through the serial port
(with a nullmodem cable etc..) and everything
seemed to be working fine. However, recently I
have been having problems with it.
It only intermittently prints the test page.
About 7 out of 8 times I just get a blank page.
This problem did start at about the time that I
upgraded my computer (new m-board requiring a new
serial cable (9 pin)) but I don't see how the
connection to the computer would affect the test page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see why you're printing all these test pages. I'm guessing you're talking about the startup page. Why not just shut it off? If you're not having the problem any other time, I wouldn't worry about it. Are you getting any kind of light patterns when it happens?

Sorry. I was imprecise. Start-up pages, I mean.
Of course, when I don't get a start-up page, I am
not able to print. When I do (1 out of 8) or so,
I am able to print. The led flash in the same way
whether it prints a start up page or not.

It seems to me you're having some sort of communication problem. Is the printer disappearing from the chooser? This is really not my area of expertise. You could probably be better helped at a site like macfixit.com
