Hp HP LaserJet 1200

HP laserjet 1200 long time between pages

Is there a setting or some reason why my hp 1200 laserjet takes so long to print between pages. Sometimes it takes 10-12 seconds before the next page is printed. Thanks.
Depends on how complicated the document is. You can go to properties and change the dpi from 600 to 300 which should speed up things quite a bit.

It doesn't seem to matter what i print...small text file or intense graphics. They all spit one page out and then wait 10 sec for next page and so on. Tried dropping the DPI and eliminate any other "time consuming" features, but nothing seems to help.

Next step is to try it on another PC and/or with a different cable.

Have you connected this printer to a network by any chance, or using a older printer driver or using Postscript.

if you run a test page, does the same thing happen?

I've tried on a different PC, and with a different cable (usb) and it does the same thing. Does the same with a couple of test pages also. Currently using PCL6 driver, but tried it with the PCL5 and PS and they all do the same thing.

I know it's an old thread but I've just ran across this problem. It is caused by an option called "printer personality" which cannot be set up through driver.

Along with printer software there should be a program called Hppcfg.exe , you should use it to change the option from AUTO to PCL (or PostScript if you want to use it).

Unfortunately HPLIP driver for Linux doesn't seem to support this function.
