Epson Epson Stylus Color 740

2 Clogged Epson 740s

I have two Epson 740 printers. I have tried all manner of head cleaning including cleaning cartridges and the syringe/solvent method provided by MaxPatchInk. These methods might work for an hour, or a day, but rarely more than a few days, with the color heads, mostly, on BOTH machines, showing clogs either at the start of the day or clogging in the middle of a modest print job after initially testing clean using the nozzle check utility.

One printer is connected using the USB method, the other on the serial printer-server port of an SMC Barricade 8000ABR router. The machines are both about 6 years old and receive their print jobs from a Dell PIII 500mHz computer running Win98se.

Any suggestions, or have these printers outlived their useful lifespans?
It sounds as if they would both need new heads to get them going again, costing alot more than it would to replace the printers themselves.
