HP 5si won't duplex

I've recently installed a duplex unit on a functioning 5si. The problem is it won't duplex. Driver installation indicates it is installed, allows me to select it with options for short or long edge binding yet singled sided pages exit the top.
Am I missing some additional hardware or software settings???
Maybe the duplex unit is not be recognized by the printer. Do a paper path test from the test menu and the duplex option should be available on the printer menu. If it is not, then the printer does not recongnize the duplex unit. If the option is there does it work?

When selecting paper path test only the 3 tray options are available. The duplexer was tested on another machine prior to purchase. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks - Autonut
Lets make it real simple. When you do a paper path test, the first thing it asks is which tray. Choose tray 2. Next will be the number of copies, say 10. Next and this is from memory it will ask you the output bin which you just leave alone and next it will ask if you want to duplex. If the duplex does not come up, it means your printer is not recognizing the unit. You could also print a configuration page from the test menu and it should show the duplex unit if it sees it. I have a feeling your printer is not seeing the unit.

Did you power cycle the HP5SI, after putting the duplex unit into the printer?
DMZ is correct in saying that it should appear on the printer's Configuration Page, if the 5SI is seeing the duplexer, under the Paper Handling Options.
If the duplex unit is shown, then to run duplexed paper path test on a 5SI from the printer's front panel, you have to set "2-SIDED=ON" under the CONFIGURATION MENU. You should now be able to run the paper path test as suggested, providing the 5SI is seeing the duplexer in the first place.
Good Luck!
