paper mismatch error message when receiving fax

I have HP 7210 all in one. Had it about a year with no problems. No fax settings have been changed and I am sole user of PC/Printer. Lately when fax comes in, front panel says receiving fax, spits out one blank page and then beeps and front panel says there is a paper size mismatch and to insert proper paper size and hit ok. If I hit ok without doing anything the fax comes through but is cut off at the bottom and sender gets fax send failed. I ask them to resend the fax backwards with bottom of page first and it comes through fine. One sender send fax with text just in the middle of their page and the words were cut in half but were in center of received page. Happens with different senders.

After the faxes come through I get a printed error 244 message about communication error and to have sender try again.

I have paper size set to letter which I believe is correct versus A4 which I am not familiar with. Senders using printer paper size to send me the faxes.
I got exactly the same problem, tried recommendations from HP's website, mostly checking the Media sensor and recalibrate it, nothing helped.

Just wondering if anyone has solution for this.

Thanks in advance.

My machine mostly gives a paper mismatch error - it's fine if I am here I can press the OK button, but if I am away from the desk it is problematic. I see this is a common problem - was anybody able to fix it?

I had same thing..had to be near the printer and hit 'ok' for the fax to come thru on paper mismatch (of course there was NO mismatch....8.5 X 11 is NORMAL paper size). All these little things are really irritating.
