Maintenance Kit for the Xerox Phaser 860

I have a 5 year old Xerox / Tektronix Phaser 860 solid ink colour printer. I did buy a new HP colour printer, but my problem is the Xerox needs a maintenance kit, but I don't want to spend the money on one. Is there a way to over ride the sensor inducating I need a maintance kit? I have $1500 worth of ink sticks, wouldn't mind finishing them up. Thanks!

Depends if the kit is just out of date or you have used the alloted copies for the kit. If the later it can not be reset and is not adviseable since print quality will eventually be effected. If just out of date the best way is to hook up via tcp/ip and then change the date on the printer to a year or two earlier and it will work. It should still work even if the date has passed only you get the message that the kit is outdated. Of course if you can find someone with a orange chip which goes in front of the kit which still has copies left on it, then you could substitute it for yours and continue to print even if the date has expired.

You can also change the date of the printer. Change it back a year - that should work for awhile
