Hp HP LaserJet 4M

Please help me...Error 52 message on my HP LJ 4M

I've ready plenty of posts here which indicate my "Error 52" message is related to the scanner assembly. Anyhow, searching for a repair kit, I'm finding it is no longer available. Any suggestions as to where I can purchase a repair kit from reputable company?
Thanks ahead of time for any help.

I very rarely replace the scanner assemblies in that model. Almost every one of the 51 and 52 errors I've encountered have been fixed by opening the scanner and cleaning all the dust off of the mirrors inside. Use a dry q tip or foam swab. Liquids will streak and you're only cleaning off dust so liquids aren't necessary. The laser bounces off a little mirror into a sensor that counts the pulses and determines if it is spinning at the proper speed. If the mirror is dirty, it won't reflect the laser and the controller throws the 52 error which translates as improper motor rotation speed.

Hi Moe,
Thank you for the reply. What I didn't say (sorry I left this part out) is that the printer made some horrible noises and then a sounded like banging and clanging, then gave me the error 52 message. So, I'll try the cleaning thing first and keep my fingers crossed. If it doesn't work, please coach me on what to do next.
Thanks for your help! I'll keep you posted.

OK, so I guess the noises weren't worth mentioning. I change my diagnosis. Your scanner motor self destructed. You will need to replace the scanner. I've got some. You can email me for pricing and ordering info by clicking on my name.

Thank you Dr. Moe! I do appreciate the diagnosis. I also appreciate your willingness to help with the part I need. However, I think I've got a replacement part around here somewhere that I can put in the printer. Thanks again!
