apple laserwriter II - lines on paper

I recently put in a new kit for the paper feed and a new toner cart.

All prints find except that I have black lines and some smudges on each copy.

What is the problem. I did clean everything I know about but might have missed something.

Comments most welcomed.

Frank
The most likely cause would be the toner cartridge. The best way to test that would be to feed a sheet in and when you see the end of the page start to go into the printer, open the lid. Look at the print that is visible on the paper. If you see the lines and the smudges, you have a bad toner cartridge.

Hi Moe:

Tried what you said, still get lines but seem to be going away as I print more copies. Looked at the cart. and it seemed fine.

Comments???

What else would you like me to add? If you followed my advice and you have lines before the paper gets to the fuser, it's a bad toner cartridge. I don't know what the source of the toner cartridge was, or if it was laying around unopened for 10 years. If it's an OEM cartridge, you should be able to get it replaced for free no matter what the age. That's what the guarantee on the box says.

Thanks again for your assitance. I have a new refurnished cart. I'll continue to print and see if it cleans up after about 50 pages.

Hi Moe:

One other point, when printing the subject text prints OK, but right below it, there is a faint imprint of the text.

Is this still the cart.?
