Epson Epson Stylus Photo 1200

Epson Stylus Photo 1200 printing fades in and out

Using an Epson Stylus Photo 1200. Printing gradually diminished to nothing. I ran numerous head cleaning utility cycles wich produced nothing. I tried putting head cleaining solution on the pad and letting it soak overnight. I then used a syringe to run head cleaning solution through the nozzles and installed new Epson OEM cartridges. This last thing actually got some results. Everything printed well except the yellow and black. I removed the black cartridge, then injected head cleaning solution through the nozzles and reinstalled the same black cartridge. It printed a faded band of black that gradually faded into a solid black then faded out again. The yellow had the same result. How should I proceed to get the printer working again.
Try heating the solution a little. And always run a cleaning cycle after you flush the print heads. This will re prime the print head with ink. If you still have a fade problem after that then the pump is most likely failing.

What you could do is put a small pool of solution on the cap assembly brfore you run a cleaning cycle then run the cleaning syscle and see if teh solution is still there. If it is then the pump is bad.

I hope this helps,

Wes.

Hi,
I have an epson 1200 printer with lots of consumables (so I dont want to part with it just yet!) I suspect that the pump may not be pulling the ink through. I want to try the test that is suggested above but am not sure what is meant by the "cap assembly". IS there any other way of determining if the pump is bad? Can a replacement be found? Is it possible that the pump is ok and the tubes are taking in air?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks
