Epson Epson Stylus Photo 1200

Horizontal banding - Epson Stylus Photo 1200

(In a loud voice)- My dear and trusty old Epson Stylus Photo 1200 has developed a slight ailment which I would like to fix. (In a soft voice - I mustn't say it too loud - he might hear me). BUT, before I rip his print head off and kick it into the skip, is there any known solution to a banding problem that the little bugger has developed. The ink flow is perfect - giving a faultless test pattern and the alignment is spot on (no vertical lines). Could it be his "print head" - is this what happens when they're knackered and confused? Any suggestions/commiserations or even ideas for a decent funeral for him would be most welcome. The old boy thinks he's got me beat this time - he's ready for the retirement home - but I'd like to make him print like a young 'un again just one more time - Thanks Tidzazdit!
