HP laserjet 5si 13.5 paper jam on 8.5x11 only...

I get the 13.5 message when I try to print 8.5x11 from tray 2, but 11x17 from tray 3 delivers to the top bin just fine. I did some searching for an answer, and have tried several basic things, but just don't know where the problem is. Can anyone suggest a possible fix?? Thanx!
13.5 refers to a late arrival at the facedown sensor located in the facedown assembly. First a couple of things to try. Turn off the top facedown and have the paper come out the left side. See if it still errors out and with what error. Keep in mind that 11X17 is much larger piece of paper and feed thru a lot better because of it. Another thing to try is to remove the 11X17 paper from tray 3 and feed letter from that tray just to see if the same error comes up. Also you can try to feed from tray 1 (manual) and see if you get the same error. If you do not, I would venture to say that tray 2 has an issue which could be the pickup rollers. Let us know the results.
