Hp HP LaserJet 5SI

HP Laserjet 5SI prints blank pages error code 50

I have just installed a maint. kit into a 5Si that has been
printing blank pages, this included a new fuser. It still
prints blank. I am getting error code 50. I saw the link
refering to a loose connection on the DC board. would this
be the issue and if so how can I get to the fuser controller
on the 5SI. Any help would be appreciated.
Did you change the toner.? try that..
Maybe a cold reset too.. had that on a 4500 the other day and it fixed it.

Did you get the error code 50 before the maint kit? Also what is the exact error. It should be 50.1, 50.2, 50.3 or 50.4.

OK that the same as a 50.1. Now with that error you should not get anything to print or move in the printer. The printer shuts down with a fuser error. If you replaced the fuser, the manual says next would be the dc controller, but my experience has been the issue is the low voltage power supply. Common issue on the 8000 and 8100 series. Only thing to make sure is the printer is plugged into a dedicated outlet with at least 15 amps of power. If other items are on the same circut when they draw power, it could reduce the power available to the 5SI and cause a 50.1 error. My bet is on the low voltage ps.

Blank pages could come from laser scanner shutter being stuck. 50 error would be either a bad fuser or dc controller.

Nah, It's on a Grounded dedicated line. It just started printing blank pages on Monday. We use it for printing our
Checks and it has a special driver or I would just trash it.
I have already shelled out $300 for a Maint. kit. any Idea
what a Low voltage power supply would go for? I have already
come across this as being the problem and it sounds about right.
Everything else works it just produces blank pages.

You are confusing me with the blank pages. If you get a 50.1 error then it should not put out any paper as the printer will shut down. Give us the sequence of events from the time the printer is turned on and if no error is present, when a job is sent and what happens at that point (error messages, blank sheets or what?). Are you by chance in NJ.

This started on Monday. One of my coworkers let it be known that the printer was printing blank pages and the toner was fairley new. So I installed another toner (new) to see if it was a bad
toner cartridge. Nothing, I did the usual. I reseated the
fuser (it was hot to touch) cleaned out the printer with
compresed air, Powered everything off for 20 min. I then
un-pluged it from the network, restored it back to default
settings still blank pages. I then ordered a Maintence kit.
Installed new rollers, New fuser, still prints blank pages.
I don't mean faint or light I mean blank as in un touched.
Unfortuneately it is the only 5si in the office so i cant
swap parts in and out. So now I am stumped, Our office
is in NY Westchester. I am about to order a LVPS even
though I don't know where it goes. (I am the network
admin for a small company so I am computer literate
but printer stupid) Thanks again.

You still do not give me information on the 50 error. Are you getting a 50 error yes or no. If you are does the printer still put out blank pages. The other question is have you tried to print a configuration page from the menu on the printer. You could be having a simple problem of a driver issue and nothing wrong with the printer. You need to take this one step at a time. If you have a 50.1 error and the printer does not feed any paper, then the low voltage ps may be in order. If you do not have a 50.1 error and the printer prints blank pages, then you need to report that back here so we can start you on some tests to narrow down what is wrong. We are all spinning our wheels because the information you have provided is not clear.

True story: I once went out to an office that was complaining about blank pages on their 5si. I asked if they had tried another cartridge and they said they had tried 3 different ones. Drove out there, took the cartridge out, noticed the seal hadn't been pulled. Pulled the seal, handed the bill to the red-faced office person and left. Never overlook the obvious.
I too can not see the printer printing blank pages with the 50 error. It should shut down. Since the fuser is hot to the touch, then you can basically eliminate the LVPS and the fuser. It is of course possible that one of the 2 lamps in the fuser broke during shipment and it isn't getting hot enough fast enough, thus engendering the 50 error, but it still would shut down. I'd try sticking the old fuser back in since it was working prior to the error and there is no way a fuser could cause blank pages to begin with. Once you get rid of the 50 error, then we can start diagnosing the blank pages. Like dmz said, you need to supply as much info as possible as the 2 problems really can't co-exist.
