Epson 700 won't sense ink tank

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 700 ink jet printer and just last night the metal sensor (that tells the printer and ink tank is installed) behind the black ink tank appears to have gone bad. At first it was like the cartridge wasn't big enough to press the sensor (when you pressed the ink tank back a little bit, the no cartridge light went off) but then I noticed that the sensor is just a bent piece of metal, sort of spring loaded and it appeared the spring was worn out and the piece had gone flat. So I tried adjusting the amount of "spring" (by bending the metal strip) in the sensor and naturally I broke the piece of metal :) So my question is, do you know a way to disable the sensor or a place I could buy this part and try to repair it? Or am I better off junking it?
Junk it or send in for repair.
