Laserjet 4p paper jam

We have a 4p here that goes thru self test ok to ready, but on any action to print (either test or from a computer)picks up paper, brings it about 3/4 of the way under the toner cart and then stops with a 13 Paper Jam error. Paper is flat, not crinkled in any way.
Paper seems to stop just short of a sensor arm behind the toner cart.
Other posts & answers mention an "oblique cover" If this is the clear plastic held in by one screw on the left near the front, I have had it out and cleaned it. No paper under it. If not, where is it, and how do I get to it. Any additional guidance would be appreciated.
The oblique roller is the black plastic one inside that clear assembly. Are you sure the paper isn't hitting the sensor? I see a lot of jams at that point. Usually you can fix it by blowing air down into the slot. There is an optical sensor underneath that tends to get blocked by paper dust.
