I have had the following problem and followed all HP instructions to troubleshoot it, but have been unable to correct it. PROBLEM: only the ERROR status light ON, which indicates a recoverable error has occured, such as a paper jam, top cover is open, or toner cartridge is missing. I cannot find any paper jam or any of the other possible solutions. I have tried all the possible solutions from the HP Support documents online with no success. Also, I have turned the printer off, held the Reset button down and turned the printer back on with no success. The problem is in the printer since it is connected to a PC using Windows XP and a Mac with the latest drivers. Does anyone have any suggestions to correct the problem? I have a feeling it is something simple.
I just went through a similar problem with a 4ML. It's not simple if you have a board level problem and need to take the printer apart to get to the photo electric motion sensors. What can you check that IS simple? Look for the flags that close on those sensors to make sure they are in the right position and move freely. If that is the case then you have bad news. Where are you located?

Lets make is real simple. Does the motor turn when you lift and close the toner door. If it does not, they follow the link above and check the sensors/flags as that is the issue. If the motor turns, then you have another issue and report back here.
