Epson Epson Stylus Photo 2000

Problems with Epson R300 CD/DVD printer function!

I have an Epson R300 for about a year that I have printed many CDs and DVDs on. I am running on a older G4 (i got it in 2000) with OS 9.
For what seems to be no apparent reason, the printer does not seem to recognizing that I want to print on a CD. Usually when you open the CD tray, it tells the printer that you want to print on a CD. In the epson printer software, I set my settings for CD/DVD printing. Then, my printer acts like I want to print on paper! It tells me to close the CD tray so that it can print, which doesnt make sense because i need the tray to be open so I can print on the CD.
Like i said, i have printed many CD's successfully but I cant seem to figure out what the hell is wrong with my printer. Other than this, I have never had any problems with the R300. Any help or suggestions on what to do is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Thanks,
Emily

this is so weird. I have a R200 on windows xp service pack 2.
i just started getting the same problem tonight and have also done quite a few cds successfully in the past. just bought the printer about a month ago.

to clarify my problem is the printer asks me to close the cd/dvd tray even when it's already closed. if i put a piece of paper in it will print the cd art on the paper! if i have the cd/dvd tray open of course it tells me to close it. this is all from the program Epson Print CD with CD/DVD selected as my paper type.

what gives!

I had an R300 that I had to send back under warranty. I think that maybe the R200/300 models have faulty sensors.

Unfortunately, you have to endure Epsons tech support for at least a 1/2 hour trying different stuff... they even had me plug into another wall outlet even though I had power where it was.....

I just did a big spray with some Blow-Off Duster and that seems to have fixed the problem. I also tried moving its position on the floor around a little. I think there was dirt on the sensor, that's my guess.

Does anyone know why printing on CD/DVD locks at the quality "Best Photo"?
