Epson Epson Stylus Color 740

Epson Stylus Color 740 will not print

My Epson stopped printing after 4 years. It is connected to HP 8650C running Windows 98. I have uninstalled driver and reinstalled from Epson website. Still will not print. It will print the test page with the printer cable disconnected from computer. I have ran several spyware programs with no such luck. Does anyone have a solution? Would the printer cable be an issue? Or is the computer having an issue finding the printer? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. Todd
If the printer is working by itself then you know it's not a printer issue. It could the printer cable is loose or is just too old. I would start with disconnecting the printer cable at both ends then reconnect them and see if that helps. Then try a different (new) printer cable.

It could also be a bad printer port or a BIOS setting problem just to name a few of the other more common causes.

I hope this helps,

I am getting a new printer cable tonight. If this is not the problem is there a fix for a bad printer port or a BIOS setting problem?
