Laserjet IIP Smudging

I have an HP Laserjet IIP that has worked great for me for years, until now. Now you can rub off and smudge the toner on the printout near the top and bottom of the page along the right hand side. The rest of the printout is fine. I tried replacing the toner cartridge, and that did not help. Does anybody have any ideas on what this could be and how to fix it? Thanks! -Chris
Chris check your fuser roller. In paticular the upper one to see if the teflon is missing on part of the roller. You may also have a bad fuser bushing causing the rollers not to have enough pressure on that section of the fuser.

Good luck

There is a U shaped plastic bushing on that side. There's a little engage pin that keeps it from spinning. The pin snaps and allows the bushing to spin around causing the teflon fuser roller to grind against the housing. This causes your problem. You'll have to get a new fuser assembly. We have a few in stock if you need one. Contact me by email on our contacts page.
