Epson Epson Stylus Photo 2000P

Out of date inks

Hi - I just found your site and appologise if I'm asking a stupid question, but I can't find an answer anywhere else - so if there's anyone out there can help I'd appreciate it. I've just bought some "new" out of date inks (genuine Epson and still boxed from new) for my 2000P. The problem is that the printer doen't recognise them. I've tried using a ink chip reseter for the first time but the problem seems to be that they won't reset. Does this happen to out of date chips or are they faulty? Is there anything else to try or are they just scrap?

Thanks in advance to anyone who has any suggestions
Well, you can change the date on your PC to a date before the expiration date on the carts. This may or may not work.

Thanks for the comment Paul - although maybe I didn't describe the problem properly. I don't think the printer checks the datej just the ink level and the "new" inks show up as being used - not only to the printer, but also to the chip reseter! In other words - the chips don't seem to work at all.

Make a simple test, download install and configure the sscservice utility as explained here:

http://myprinter.altervista.org/simplefaq/mysimplefaq.html#counter

but do not reset the protection counter, you don't (still) need to. As explained stop Epson status agent, reboot your pc and then select Reset counters -> Reset all counters. After this step the printer should operate correctly.

Thanks "newuser" - I'll try that. Although as I said, the problem seems to be with the chip on the ink not with the printer!
