My Canon laser printer, LBP-460 stopped printing with an onscreen message "Service Error: problem with printer engine". The printer comes on when it is plugged in but when the print command is given, the paper starts to feed and then stops and the error message appears.
Is there a number code also? It could be a couple of things.
There is no number code and when I called Canon, they said to take it to a service center for repair.
All I could do is guess. Those printers have no lights, display or anything to help with diagnostics. As for taking it to an authorized center, I hired one of the Canon authorized center's techs last week. Worked for them 4 years. Lasted all of 6 hours. I was shaking my head in disbelief most of that time. I kept on asking him if he'd ever worked on printers there. My guess would be either the fuser assembly or the scanner assembly.
Thank you for your help.
While changing the parameters on this printer, a password somehow got entered. Is there any way to cancel this password or change it. I am even willing to buy new memory or erase the hardrive if that is where the password is located.
