automatic head clean & recharge at switchon
Hi, epson stylus color 600
How do you stop this printer doing a head clean and recharge cycle when its
switched on? I prefer to do this manually when required.
Is there a trick to position the paper to a given position to start printing?
Thanks for your help.

When the printer does always a cleaning cycle at the startup there is something wrong with the NVRAM or with the printhead.
Try downloading the service manual from this site but it looks like a complex problem.

Thanks Newuser,
Will do.
The printer is functioning correctly, however. My problem is, to avoid blocking the 'phone, I am on and of line very frequently and printer startup cycles quickly drain the ink.
Any thoughts on page positioning?
Thanks again. castoo

With the Stylus family there is no way to control paper handling from the printer, except loading/unloading a sheet.
Any regulation (margins, vertical offset etc. ) must be done from the application you are using: if your software doesn't offer these settings there's nothing you can do.

I was looking for a utility, a bit like "clickbook" to set out the page via spooler. Must be something out there!
Thanks again.

The only utility able to manage prints I know is
http:\\\\www.fineprint.com
but it is shareware and I don't remember the license price.
Otherwise under Linux there are the PSUtils...

Thanks Newuser,
I have already tried fineprint and clickbook. Although both allow duplex printing and several pages per sheet, they do not allow printing to a pre printed sheet. My best bet know appears to be to search for a printer that has a manual feed tray.
Many thanks for yor efforts.
