HP Laser Jet IIIP

Printer will not print a test page, or any thing else. Will print a test page after running a self test. Will not print when hooked to a computer. No error message comes up. Have tried to print on several computers.
What do I do ?
Take printer OFF LINE. Hit the MENU button until it displays DEVICE CONFIG. Hit ENTER. Hit MENU. You should see i/o=paralel* If it says i/o=none*, hit the +/- key until it says i/o=paralel, then hit the ENTER key to save.

When you say it will print a test page after running a self test, I assume it prints a test page by pressing two button on the display. If so it means the printer is working and you have a communication issue, either with the computer or the printer itself. When you try it on another computer are you using the same cable. If so I would try to borrow another cable just to make sure it is not the cable. Another thing you can do is to try a dos print. Go to a command prompt and type cd\\windows and hit enter. Next type dir >> lpt1 and hit enter. The printer should print a directory of windows and you may have to force out the last page. If it does not print do you get any message such as error writing to lpt 1. Let us know.
