Epson Epson Stylus Photo 2000P

My Epson Is Flashing Me

Hi,
All lights on my Epson 2000p are flashing and the computer does not recognize it.
I took the printer to a repair shop and they thought, as I did, that the waste ink counter was maxed out.
They are not able to get it reset though. Everything they've tried ....it just continues to flash.
Any suggestions I could make to them would be a big help, if someone else has experienced this. I really need this printer to work, ....real soon. Thanks.
Thanks Denny,
Do you know.....? Will that service program recognize the printer? Right now all my computer say's is offline when I look at the settings.

The people serviceing it say that the EEPROM can be reset a few different ways. I don't know if they've tried the program or not, but I'd sure like to tell them to try it, if they haven't.

Try this to clear the waste counter. It works on some Epson printers. Not sure if it works on yours. I have used it to clear my Stylus 900 and Photo 1280 printers.
(1) While turning the printer on, pressing the both Load/Eject and Cleaning buttons generates the Special setting mode. While the Paper Out LED is blinking.
(2)While the Paper Out LED is blinking, pressing the Cleaning button for 10 seconds. This will reset the waste ink counter.
(3) Turn off the printer and turn it on again. Now the "all light flash" problem should go away.

It is important to make sure that the waste ink pad is replaced or cleaned and dried when you reset the waste ink counter. Otherwise if the ink goes overflow it may damage your printer and makes a big mess.

I used these steps to clear an internal error in my Stylus 740 and it worked!!

There is an "Stylus Photo 2000P Printer
Service Program", avaialable to buy and download for around $9.00, from 2manuals.com , at http://www.2manuals.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_56_50&products_id=232 . Once most Epson Printers, go into that "Maintenance Error Condition", it usually requires a particular Service Program, to be able to actually reset that Internal Waste Ink Counter. Just so you will know: The maintenance request error is actually a Waste Ink Ink Pad Error and usually your remedy is to replace the Waste Ink Pad/Pads with a new one/ones and then reset the Internal Waste Ink Pad Counter. If you just reset the counter and don't replace the pads, then your printers old pads will eventually overflow and normally start leaking ink out the bottom of your printer. You can see "Exploded Parts Diagrams" of most Epson Ink Jet Printers and can also check on possible parts ordering, by Compass Micro Inc, at http://www.compassmicro.com/parts_select.cfm . Some people actually wash the ink out of the old pads, by holding them under running cold water, then dry them out and simply reinstall them back into their printer. The choice on what to actually do, is yours to make. I would at least recommend getting that Waste Ink Counter reset procedure and performing it first, to make sure your printer will then work...THIS ADDITIONAL INFO MIGHT ALSO BE OF SOME HELP: Tim H 12/10/2003 2:46:24 Subject: Epson Reset Program Download Location. after a long search for a reset program for waste ink, without paying, i found it. goto: http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/sscserve.exe . please check that your printer is compatible goto: http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html . this program has other features as well...Unfortunatly, that "SSC Service Utility" does not work on all Epson Printers and not on all Operating Systems and sometimes will not even work on actually listed printer models, so you will have to check it out for yourself. If that source does not work, then you will need to buy that Service Program, to be able to reset that internal counter. You may also need to go on-line to try and locate a Service Manual, to buy and download for reference in disassembly, troubleshooting and servicing. As you are already using this "fixyourownprinter.com" Printer Repair site, why not first check with them and see if they offer a manual for your particular printer, that might be of use to you. I checked and they do list the Service Manual that you need, as a download, but you will have to actually check it out for yourself. You can see whats available by clicking on the following link: http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/reference/manuals# ...Good Luck! Denny Conway

When an Epson Printer is actually in a Service Error Condition, the computer system that it is hooked too, cannot communicate with the printer, do to that error condition. Thats why your computer thinks the printer is off line. I have never used that particular Service Program, so I don't know how it actually works. However, a lot of those Reset Procedures, simply are performed from the printer itself and don't always require the use of a computer system...Denny Conway

Epson printers can communicate with the service program also when they are in error condition since this utility overrides the printer drivers.

Sscserve cannot operate in this conditions because it uses Windows services to send data to the printer.

Looks like there is no way to get around the waste ink pad problem. It's not a problem actually, that's just the way it is.

On the other hand, you can u can try another way:
http://inkrepublic.com

they have different chipset and can last your waste inkpad longer. also it can save your expensive ink.

When powering on the Printer, press and hold cleaning and paper eject, release when the paperfeed led lights, then press and hold for 10 secs the cleaning button, this will reset the waste ink counter. This should resolve your issue.

Hello WorkedonA2000p,

You used the 10 second reset trick. Can you tell me please, which is considered the "cleaning botton" on a 2000P?

Anyone?

Thank you.
