HP LaserJet 4 Light Print
I have 8 year old HP LaserJet 4. About 6 months
ago the printout started to get faint. I don't
remember what stared the problem if any.
Now, the printout is very faint even with new toner
(I always use HP92298A) and density set at 5 & ret
at dark. Also .5" of left edge doesn't print
and .9" of right edge is very very faint.
Any help will be appreciated.

It could either be a bad charge transfer roller. That's the sponge roller under the toner cartridge. Or it could be dirty optics in the scanner assembly. The cheaper fix would be to remove the top and open the scanner assy lid and clean all the glass and mirrors with a dry cue tip. CTR is easy to replace, it just drops in and isn't too expensive. We stock them.
Thanks for shipping my order so promptly.
I cleaned the scanner mirrors and replaced CTR but
the problem with light print and problem with
left and right edges are still there.
What shall I try next?

Try the High Voltage Power Supply
My issue is:
1. Printer just started printing very faint text/images. However,
2. Printer DOES print the test page just fine - with dark text
3. The Cartridge is not the issue.
Any help fixing this will be very much appreciated.

need some adjustment on scanner trimmer
What does that even mean? He said there's no problem with the printer as it prints test pages dark. That would mean a software or driver issue. There is absolutely no way the printer could be at fault. - moe
