Apple LaserWriter II Pickup Jam Repair Kit

I installed the pickup jam kit in my laserwriter II about a year and a half ago. It has worked fine since then, until recently. This printer doesn't see a lot of use and has probably done less than 200 pages in that time. All of a sudden I am getting pickup jams again. The problem isn't one that crept up; one day the printer worked fine and the next day it wouldn't print at all. I've tried different paper, using manual feed, and dusting the inside of the printer but the problem remains unchanged. Any tips on what to try now? Thanks in advance.
Try cleaning the pickup roller with a damp rag. If it gets enough dust on it, it will slip trying to pick up the paper.

I installed and reinstalled the "Pickup Jam Repair Kit" but the paper feed stops flat just before the registration roller. And the jam light will come on. Sometimes I can coax a sheet through manually but the next sheet will stop before the registration roller and the jam light returns. Any suggestions?

The paper isn't actually touching the registration roller, is that what you are saying? How much separation is there?

Actually, the paper stops about an 8th of an inch before the guide plate before the registration roller. I apologize for giving the wrong impression.

Any help regarding my 6/21/13 response to you question of 6/17/13? I'm at a loss as to what to do.
