Epson Epson Stylus Color 640

printer ink refilling

I have a Epson stylus color 640 esc\\p printer, and my black ink light came on letting me know I was out of ink. I bought a refill kit, followed instructions on refilling, but my light stays on and it wont print, clean or anything.I tried to get it to clean the heads but it wont do anything but turn on and off. Is there something that I missed? If you can help at all please reply my E-Mail is listed here. thanks Julie.
Julie: Your printer has no way to know that there is actually ink inside that black ink cartridge. You must reset the Internal Ink Counter and the Ink Level Indicator, before your printer will know there is ink inside that black cartridge. Simply push-in on the ink button and the Print Cartridge Holder Assembly will move over to the ink replacement position. Open the locking cover over the black ink cartridge and remove that cartridge out of the printer. Now reinstall that same ink cartridge and close the locking cover, back over that black ink cartridge. Push-in on that ink button again and your printer will automatically go thru New Cartridge Initialization. Your printer will turn off that ink light, reset its internal ink counter and reset the black ink level indicator to full. Your printer automatically assumes you are installing a New & Full Ink Cartridge. If that refilled ink cartridge is not completely full, then that can cause other problems. Check for an e-mail from me, with some additional information on refilled ink cartridges...Good Luck! Denny Conway

Please be sure and copy & paste this reply into that e-mail, or I will have no way to know what its about. I'm sorry, but its to much info to post on this Printer Repair Site...Denny Conway
