Hp HP DeskJet 670C

hp deskjet 670c

HI. I've read with interest the other posts re: the deskjet. I have installed my deskjet on my new computer using Windows XP. The test page would not print, so I cleaned and fussed and followed the directions found on the forum, to no avail. The amber light flashes continually. At 7 am this morning the printer began printing the test page! It made it halfway through before stopping. When I turned the computer on, the printer completed the job and the amber light began to flash again. Because I can't wait 15 hours for printing, I'm wondering if anyone knows what that indicates and has any further advice. Thanks so much (still chuckling).
This web page may help.

Amber flashing light indicates a paper jam or missing or faulty ink cartridges. The usual suspect is the color cartridge as it is not changed as frequently as the black.
If you have taken the cartridge out and cleaned the contacts, I would suggest replacing the color cartridge, especially if it is more than 1 year old.

I've installed the new cartridges and played with the settings. At present, the paper will load, but the printer then stops and the flashing light comes on. Any further thoughts?

Load up the Deskjet 500 driver, see if you get anything from that.

Hello Penny
First want to say hi to the guys and Sue.
HP 670c now were talking.Out dated but good printer.
1)Disconnect the printer from the computer
2)Disconnect the power source from the back of the printer.
3)Wait ten minutes,go make a coffee.
4)plug the power source back into the printer.
5)Push the on button.
6) After it goes through it self test and just the green light is on,I want you to push the resume button and hold it till it starts to fire up.
7)Take your finger off the Resume button and let
it print its test page.
8)If the test page looks good,I believe its a
Kite, the problem is the drivers in your computer.
9) If it prints a nice kite,Delete the drivers on
your computer and reinstall new ones.
10)Any other help needed email me at [email protected] Good luck Rob

A flashing resume light can mean lots of things. I should have read your first post more carefully. Go to this web page for all of the possibilities.

Will the printer print a complete internal test page? Press and hold the resume button for a few seconds to find out.

The most common problems I run into on the Deskjet 600 series is as follows.
1. Dirty cartridge and/or carriage contacts. Clean them again with a cotton swab and alcohol.
2. Defective cartridges. New does not guarantee that they are good. Test them in another printer if possible.
3. Dirty feed rollers. Clean them with a damp cloth. Use rubber rejuvenator sold on this site as better fix.
4. A Binding carriage. Clean the carriage rod with alcohol and lubricate it with a few drops of Tri-Flow, available in small squeeze bottles at cycle shops.
5. Incorrect cartridges.

If you're confident that none of the above is the problem, change the printer cable. If that doesn't resolve the problem, test the printer on another system.

i've lost my printer installer cd. i tried downloading an installer from the internet and even used the one available from the windows ME program. but it still wont print and it says "communication error". ive checked all the cable and everything seems fine. but it still wont print any document nor even the test print.
what could be the reason? tnx
