Ibm IBM Laser Printer 4019

IBM 4019

I have a problem with the above mentioned printer.

When I send a document to print it send an error message: 4
I push the cont. butt. and it start printing.

The error code 4 appears before all printings but sometimes it give an error code 6 too.
It means it will stop in the middle of the document, paper out, new paper in and finish the document on the second sheet.

I cant see connection between the size of the document and the error 6

The Win XP doesn't comment the printings so I suppose the problem is in the printer.

I have no idea what error 4 or error 6 are since they are not listed in later models. What I do think is maybe the paper setting size is wrong so you get the message and when you hit the button it is like an override to say it is ok to print on the paper size I have. I am not sure if the sample page on the 4019 tells you what the settings or what the printer thinks are in each media source. It is possible one of the switches which tell the printer what size paper is in the tray has broken and the printer thinks a different size paper is in the tray. Good Luck

It seems to me that it might be a memory issue. Try doing a simpler job and see if that prints ok. Windows XP needs more printer memory to print the same job as 98 did.
