Epson Epson Stylus Photo 1200

Garbage Output on LPT Epson Stylus Photo 1200

@EJL @EJL @EJL are the characters keep coming out when using the LPT parallel port to print but no problems at all if the USB port was used. Don't know if this has something to do with the EEPROM? Can a bad service adjustment program possibly ruin its contents in the EEPROM? Any suggestions on how to fix it??
Strange output is is usually caused by a bad printer cable. Try checking the connections at both the computer and printer. If the eprom were bad it should effect both printer ports not just the parallel port.

Drivers could also cause the problem or a bad printer port on the computer can be the cause as well.

Print a self test with the printer disconnected from the printer cable. If it prints fine then the parallel printer cable is the most likely cause.

I hope this helps,

Wes.

I connect the cable to the Epson Stylus Photo 1270 and its works fine. Tested the Epson 1200 on another PC and still got the same problem. This is my first time to use the LPT port to adjust the printer because the service program requires it but I did it incorrectly. I forgot to move and run the program on a writeable media and so when trying to print the A4 pattern it says something like 'write error to disk' and while the printer power on light is still blinking I reset the PC. And now I don't know if indeed ruined my printer :(

Aside from that I also suspect the service program pho7512.exe from ftp.epson.com/drivers/ is bad because its different from the one indicated on the service manual which is sp751200.exe however both programs supported the Epson Stylus Photo 750 and Epson Stylus Photo 1200.

Hello,
It's Nicolas from France.
Maybe you could help me ?
I am looking for basic software called "sp751200.exe", to calibrate my Epson head printer.
Would it be possible for you to send me it via email (attachment) ?
Thank you in advance for your reply !!

First of all uninstall the printer driver from the control panel and restart the system.
At computer startup go in the bios setting and select for the parallel port "Normal" or "SPP" mode.
Once Windows has been reloaded, reinstall the driver and try printing the test page from Settings-> Printers-> General-> Print test page.

Don't forget a bad printer cable connection on the printer or computer side or a bad printer cable can cause that problem too.

You should try removing the printer cable from the computer and printer and reconnect them.

I hope this helps,

Wes.
