Hp 5si Mx Printing Problem (Please Help)
When printing on cardstock, there is a line going down the right side of the page where it is not completing the print and looks somewhat smeered or blurry. This does not occour when using normal paper. What do I need to do to correct this problem?
If you stop the printer after the image is on the paper, before the fuser, is the image smeared? If so, it's either your toner cartridge or transfer roller. If it only smears after the fuser, replace that.
Thank you Wayne. It was occuring prior to the fuser. Is there a way to trounbleshoot the transfer roller Vs. the ink cartridge?

Kevin the transfer roller only acts as an oposite voltage item to move the toner from the drum of the toner cartridge to the paper. Generally it is the toner cartridge which causes image problems. I would also make sure I am feeding the heavy stock from the manual tray on the side and not one of the paper trays. Using the tray will cause a small curl in the media and could cause smearing. Toner is the most likely cause.
Since the printer feeds in landscape, the right side becomes the leading edge. Could be the card stock is rubbing on the drum because of a curl and causing it to smear.
were you able to run this cardstock through the printer before with no problem?
