Epson Epson Stylus Color 600

Printer will not print or feed paper.

I hope that someone can help me with this Epson Stylus Photo 785EX printer. I don't think it's quite a year and a half old yet.

The printer will not print or feed the paper through. The ink, paper light keeps blinking and I keep getting a message that THERE WAS AN ERROR WRITING TO LPT1. ALSO A MESSAGE THAT A PRINTER TIMEOUT ERROR OCCURRED.

I am in college and I have a disability. It would be so easy if I could get my papers printed out at home instead of trying to walk to faraway classes to find a computer with a printer setup.

I also have a Epson 600, and I just sent for a head cleaner solution. My mistake with this printer was not buying to cartridges for this brand. I found out the hard way that substitue ink cartridges are a no-no.

Thank you for any help you can give me.
Epson America does not have a model called Stylus Photo 785EX. However, there's a model called Stylus Photo 785EPX. If this is the model you have then have a look at the LCD display and read the error code(s).

On the LCD display the error message reads lLc, also I get an error message "COMMUNICATION ERROR", AN X IN AN ORANGE CIRCLE WITH ELECTRIC ROD SYMBOL. I have tried getting a new usb with gold tip. I don't think the ink is dried out, unless it's been sitting unoperated too long.
Please help and the printer is an EPSON STYLUS PHOTO 785EPX WITH PRINT IMAGE MATCHING.

Besides the USB cable. You might want to check the device manager and see if there are any conflicts or issues shown there. You may have a usb port problem and a failing main board on your printer can also cause that problem.

Bepending on thr printer problem the printer may give you a communication error. IF you have a maintenance request error (waste ink error) then you can get a communication error. SOmetimes the computer BIOS can be the cause.

I hope this helps,

BAD ANSWER!!! Read the LCD is a bad answer. A communication error IS a comunication error. Meaning the one of a few things. The computer is not sending the data to the printer. This can be caused by a BIOS issue. A cable isuse or a waste ink error (the printer shuts communication down).

The printer/USB port could have failed. The Main board on the printer COULD HAVE FAILED. IT DOES HAPPEN.

I was only trying to help answer a question. Obviously you don't need any help.

Wes: In the original question the printer is indicating an error by lighting the error LED. I'm guessing that you are not familiar with the Stylus Photo 785EPX because you thought "Read the LCD is a bad answer". The Stylus Photo 785EPX uses the LCD panel and an LED to convey messages as to the state of the printer.

You've also guess that a "waste ink error" (Epson refers to it as maintenance request error) could be present. If it were then that error code would be displayed on the LCD panel.

Wanda: I'm sorry but I can not locate the error code lLc. The closest error codes are IEc, empty colour ink cartridge, and IC, no ink cartridge.

Dear Wes and Ron,

I want to thank you for all your help. I don't know who else is answering for me Wes, but I do need help and I would like to know how to check my BIOS for the printer. I have checked everything else. Connections, ink cartridges, and the paper. Would my spool have anything to do with it? Ron, it you have some instructions I can use I would appreciate it.
Hopefully, this will be a friendly exchange of information.
Thank you

My Epson Stylus C60 is all installed, green light is on, but it will not print. I get the message from the "Printers Folder" that says "There was an error writing to LPT1: for the printer (epson stylus C60 series)cannot access the port. It may be in use by another program. Quit other programs and try printing again." I have quit all the other problems, but it still does not work. When I look at the in levels, they are ok and the screen says READY
The color ink, is down half way, would that make a difference, do I have to put in a full cartridge??

Ann: Ink level really has nothing to do with the problem you are having. Its a very good chance that there is actually not a problem being caused by your printer at all, but rather a problem in your Computer System. I'm sorry, but I only work on the printers and not on actual computer type problems and you may need to seek help from a Computer Person/Technician, rather than a Printer Technician on this PRINTER REPAIR SITE. When you get the message "There was an error writing to LPT1: for the printer (epson stylus C60 series)cannot access the port. It may be in use by another program. Quit other programs and try printing again", its usually being caused by incorrect settings in your computer system, or software type problems in your computer. Check for an e-mail from me that will tell you how to run a STAND ALONE PRINTER TEST, that actually tests your printer when its not connected to your Computer System. That test will help to isolate your problem to your computer system or to your printer. At this point, the only thing I can suggest is to delete your printer off your computer and then go on-line and download the latest available drivers from the Epson Home Page at http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/index.jsp . As drivers are FREE, I usually recommend trying those first if you have a possible communication problem. Bad or corrupted drivers can cause many problems. "DEINSTALL" [remove] your old drivers/printer first and then go to the "EPSON.COM" web-site. Click -on your particular area, where you live [example: USA]. Then click-on "DRIVERS AND SUPPORT" and then click-on your particular type of Epson Printer [example: INKJET]. Look under the "Ink Jet Printers" for your "Epson Stylus C60" and click-on it. Once the "DOWNLOAD PAGE" opens, read the INFORMATION to locate your particular SYSTEM [Win's 95,98,ME,2000.etc.] and then click-on it. Follow the directions and read all the available information concerning your systems driver downloads. Finally at the bottom of the page, click-on "Printer Software Installation for Windows ___ [Epson Printers]", or the "Download" option button. After the downloading utility opens, read the download information available, make your choices and complete the installation. If new Printer Drivers do not help, then you might want to try a new Printer Cable, just to eliminate that possibility. If neither of those actually help, then you will need to get help from an actual Computer Person/Technician and have your computer system checked...Good Luck! Denny Conway
