HP 5si Margin Moving
The left margin on our printouts is moving. The page layout starts out correct and as more and more prints out the margin moves left to right and cuts off the text on the right. I saw a post from 2003 about a clutch problem witht he HP 5si? Where is the clutch in the printer and where can I get a clutch to replace this (if this is the problem)? TIA
Try loading media in the manual tray and see if you have the same problem. The trays pickup is all part of a paper input unit and the manual tray is separate. You need to see if it happens from both inputs or just the one. If just the one, you will probably need a new PIU. If from both I would lean towards a dc controller.
Sounds like a bad registration assy. or registration clutch. I have seen this before, and replacing the registration assy. always fixed the margin problem.
I tried the manual tray but can not get it to print out enough sheets without jamming to know whether or not the margin moves. I also have a multi sheet feed issue with the manual tray. Where is the best place to purchase a registration assy?
The multi feed from tray 1 is caused by a bad seperation pad, located right under tray 1 pickup roller. Just remove the roller, and pry it out with a small flat blade screwdriver. Also replace the roller at the same time. Sep. pad pt # is RF5-1455. Roller is pt # RB1-6730. Registration assy pt # Rg5-1883.Moe on this site may have them. Good luck.
I replaced a broken registration assembly and started to have the same problem with margins. When I print from trays 1, 2, and 3 I get the same problem. There's a large margin on the left side of the page and the right side of the page is cut off. In other words, the image is not centered. Any suggestions? I would imagine it has something to do with the registration assembly because this printer did not have this problem prior to the replacement.
