NEC SuperScript 1800/N

About 6 weeks ago I purchased an NEC SuperScript 1800/N laser printer. When it is first switched on, or when it is "awakened" after being in power save mode, it makes a loud squeaking noise. I don't notice it when I am outputting pages, only when it is warming up. Any suggestions?

PS I read where someone said that all NEC printers are considered "disposable." Wish I had known that before I bought it!

Thank you for any help you can offer.

All of us techs consider them disposables. Maybe you can bring it back to the store and trade for an HP. Maybe if you make enough noise they'll give you your money back.

Unfortunately, I bought it directly from NEC. They are unlikely to want to exchange it for an HP for me. ;-)

I'll keep your advice in mind in the future, though. Thank you.
