Epson clogged heads Pro XL

Unfortunately I made a big mistake in my haste to get an Epson Stylus Pro XL to print a test page.
As the original black cartridge was very faint I squirted a few drops of HP black ink (which was all I had on hand) up the ass end of the cartridge and it printed perfectly for a time, now as it has been sitting for a couple of days, the print head jets are totally blocked.
1) How do I clean the heads and do I need to remove them from the carriage and if so how?
2) Is there a suitable cleaning fluid that I can flush through the print head?
