Apple Apple StyleWriter II

Laserwriter II formatter board

First, thanks for all of your help. After tweaking the connectors for the scanner and replacing the hard parts you so graciously supplied, The old LaserWriter II NT is up and running. The unit prints a test page flawlessly and now performs the engine test (one thing I found out was the engine test could not be performed until the printer completed the diagnostics and warm up, which it wont do if it fails the diags).

The problem that exists now is I still cant get the Mac to talk to the printer. I am running OS9.1 and Laserwriter8.7. The NT description is in the printer description folder as it is supposed to be. I just cant see the printer in the Chooser.

I have re-installed the OS, printer descriptions, chooser, LW8. I have also tried OS 9.04, 8.5 and 7.6 to no avail. OS 7.6 and 8.5 have been run on a 6400/180 and a 6100/60. I even tried it on a Centris 610 under 7.6. Just cant see it in the chooser on any of the systems running the different OS scenarios. I really suspect a failed apple talk input on the formatter board. And yes, The switches are correctly set and I've tried 6 different local talk cables.

In the previous life of the NT, it was used as a serial printer through the RS232 port on a PC. I have no intentions of doing the same.

Please help me
Found the problem. Switched apple talk to the printer port instead of the ethernet port. Thats what I get for paying attention. Now if I could only get it to print graphics without choking.
