False Error13 Paper Jam

I am getting a false Error 13 Paper Jam notice on my HP LaserJet 4.

Recently I had installed new roller assembly to fix an accordian jam problem I was having with heavier weight paper.

The accordian problem persissted after the repair (although they seemed successful).

Moe suggested that I send my heavier paper straight through the system and not up the back to the top stacking area.

To accomplish this I had to stuff a piece of 3x5 card (folded several times) into the place where the back connection tab normally rests (otherwise I have the 'cover open' warning).

I was able to make this work for a significant number of copies. The next day I came in to make some more, and I got a paper jam notice after the first copy, when there is NO paper jam.

I have flicked the little arm and made sure that no obvious springs have fallen off, but I cannot clear this message.

Any assistance would be helpful.
What happened was you stuffed the paper in a bit too far. This overrotated the linkage on top. The sensor is now permanently blocked causing the error. You'll have to take the top off and reposition it. The big spring shouldn't have any tension on it.
