Epson Epson Stylus Color 740

Epson 740 Paper Feed

Just recently my Epson 740 Color Stylus started to pull through 4 or 5 blank pages while printing. I know that some printers have a repair kit for that, but I can't find one for the Epson 740 Stylus. Any ideas on what will work?

Thanks, Parl Guthrie
It could be that static electricity is causing the paper to sitck together. Try fanning the sheets of paper and see if that helps.

Parl: Sometimes incorrect settings in software, corrupted Printer Drivers, or even a failing Printer Cable, can cause problems by sending the wrong information or data to the printer, but that usually causes blank pages to feed thru the printer, one-at-a-time, rather than several on top of each other [multiple-sheet feeding]. There are no repair kits for multiple feeding problems on Epson Ink jet Printers that I know of and thats not something I usually see. Normally that is more of a problem on Laserjet Printers than on Ink Jet Printers. Usually when you get multiple sheet feeding, its a problem with Static Electricity in the paper, or an actual problem in the paper being used. If you take a stack of paper about 1/2 inch thick and simply fan all edges the static is released. Be sure the left sliding side fence, is closed on the stack of paper thats installed in the printer. If a feed roller is causing problems, it will usually cause misfeeding problems or jamming problems and normally just cleaning the roller with "Rubber Roller Cleaner" will help [available @ " http://fixyourownprinter.com/sp0.html " ]. Its possible that a feed clutch could fail, but that would normally cause the printer to shut down in a jam condition...If the "4 or 5 blank pages " are actually all on top of each other and feed thru all at the same time [multiple-sheet feeding], I would guess a STATIC PROBLEM in the paper, or an actual paper problem [fan paper or try different paper in printer]...Good Luck! I have found that a lot of printers including the Epson Stylus 740, the one I use, will pull several sheets at one time if the paper is to light. I solved this by using a minimum 24 pound paper. - Melvin
My printer goes through the motions but does not feed paper. How can I rejuvenate the rollers?

Neil: You can clean the rollers with a Rubber Roller Cleaner/Rejuvinator and see if that helps. Just to let you know, I do not work for "fixyourownprinter.com" or even "Epson Company". Some of the best Rubber Roller Rejuvenator that I have ever used, is available in a can: Price = $10, Shipping = $6 ($8 International), from http://fixyourownprinter.com/sp0.html. It is also available as a Rubber Roller Rejuvenator Pad: One pad soaked with rubber restorer, enough to fix several printers and simple directions for use. The price: Send two dollars and a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Laser Service, 1620 Aviation Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA 90278. International customers add another dollar and skip the stamp. See info page at " http://fixyourownprinter.com/kkx3.html ". The paper pick-up/feed-in rollers are difficult to even get to and require disassembly to fully get to and you would probably need a Service Manual for disassembly, servicing and troubleshooting...HERE'S SOME INFORMATION POSTED FROM OTHER PEOPLE, THAT MAY HELP YOU TRY TO LOCATE A SERVICE MANUAL: Master 10/05/2002 03:22:56 Re: Epson stylus adjustment programs. You can find any service manual or service adjustment program for EPSON inkjet printers at www.otd.com.ua. ...OR... Eva 2/14/2003 23:31:11 Re: Epson Color Stylus Error Codes. See http://www.2MANUALS.COM - they have all service manuals and service programs. Due to them I fixed the same error on me C20! They are friendly!...Its also even possible that something else may even be causing your problem. Are there any grinding or ratcheting type noises as the printer tries to work? Does the paper even try to feed in part way, or possibly start to feed in at an angle? Are there any SOLID or FLASHING red and or green Lights/Led's coming on when the problem happens? Service lights could indicate a possible Service Error Condition...Good Luck! Denny Conway
