Hp HP LaserJet 4P

hp 4p error 51

When I turned on the printer, the display showed "00 Ready". After the paper was rolled from the papre tray, the "51 error" showed up. If I remove the toner, I can see the paper is right underneath the plastic cover which is right under the toner.
It looks like I need a new scanner. Is this correct? Can you give me a price quote on the scanner and instructions on how to replace it?
Thanks!
Angela
$89 + shipping. Case is hard to get off, but we'll give you instructions with the scanner assy.

Moe,
Thanks for getting back to me. I just want to make
sure that the scanner is the problem.
I tried to reproduce "error 51" again. However, this
time I pressed "continue" after "error 51".
Strangely, the error message changed from "error
51" to "13 paper Jam".
Should I still get a scanner? Do you think that
there are some other problems with my printer?
Thank You!

The printer will feed a piece of paper up to registration before it sees the 51 error. You probably have a sheet in the printer causing the jam. Otherwise there is nothing to relate the 2 problems. A 51 error will almost always be caused by the scanner assembly.

Moe,
Thanks for the replies. My printer is working again.
The tape (the repair kit) was great, short and simple.
THANK YOU!
