Epson Epson Stylus Color 3000

Epson 3000 Overflow Tank

Do you have an idea as to what volume of ink, the overflow tank on an Epson 3000, will hold before it needs to be serviced; e.g., 10ml, 30ml, 50ml, etc?

If the printer is drained of ink, what is the volume of ink in the ink lines that will be deposited into the drain tank?

William: Sorry, but you would probably need to purchase a SERVICE MANUAL to try and get that type of information. If Epson Company released the information that you want, it would be in that manual...REGUARDING SERVICE MANUAL AVAILABILITY: I have not actually checked, but I have been told that service manuals are available from: "NATIONAL PARTS DEPOT" @ 1-800-524-8338; "VANCE BALDWIN ELECTRONICS" @ 1-800-432-8542; "ATLANTIC EXCHANGE" @ 1-888-327-2822; "COMPASS MICRO, INC." @ 1-800-388-8595...You may find it easier to actually go on-line and check out each of these dealers, JUST TO BE SURE...Good Luck! Thanks Denny,

I should have mentioned I have the service manual.

As far as I can tell, the service manual does not show the dimensions of the drain tank/pads. The manual says when the protection counter reaches 60,000 dots, the drain pad must be replaced. That does not make since 720 dots per inch would be 5,760 inches across for 8 inches. Multiplying 5,760 by 10 inches results in 57,000+ dots. I'm sure the drain pad would hold more ink than what it would take to print a fully saturated 8 X 10 @ 1440 X 720.

One part of the manual says "drain pad", and another part of the manual says "drain pads".

Can anybody help-My Epson stylus color 3000 has a
problem. On power up the operate light comes on-the carriage initialises and then the operate/paperout/pause and all the media type lights flash. The ink out lights stay on constantly.
It sounds like a waste tank reset is required but i'm not sure .
Any help would be much appreciated.

Martin: On an Epson S.C. 3000, when the power, pause, paper out and media type lights/Led's are Blinking/Flashing and all the ink out led indicators are on solid, that is a Maintenance Request Error Condition. The maintenance request error is actually a Waste Ink Pad Overflow Error...TECH NOTE: On most Epson's, while the printer is in this error condition, it disables all operations, including data communication. On some models you can still use the Operational Control Buttons specified, to clear the error once the pad/pads have been replaced. Normally your remedy is to replace the Waste Ink Pad/Pads with a new one/ones and then reset the Internal Waste Ink Pad Counter...JUST SO YOU WILL KNOW: The need to replace the waste ink pads is measured by the amount of ink uses, which is determined based on the number of Head Drive Pulses, accumulated in the waste ink counter. When the total quantity of ink deposited onto the waste ink pads, during cleaning and flushing, reaches the set limit, the printer generates a maintenance request error and stops printing...If you just reset the counter and don't replace the pads, then your printers old pads will eventually overflow and normally start leaking ink out the bottom of your printer. I'm sorry, but as an Epson Authorized Service Dealer, there is only so much information and help that I can legally give and Epson will not allow their dealers to release that reset procedure...You may want to try doing a general search on the "fixyourownprinter.com" printer repair site, under WASTE INK PADS or WASTE INK COUNTER RESET PROCEDURE. You should be able to find quite a few references listed in the last six months and most included web-site links, for possible help on the reset procedure. Some also list links where you can purchase a SERVICE MANUAL, in case you want to try and do the service yourself...I know this information is not much help, but at least you will know what your ERROR is...Good Luck! its 2013 and I have 1 epson 3000 with possible waste pad problem, all lights flashing. Comes to ready, when command given to print, paper is drawn, printhead goes to left, then all lights flash.
Main Board?. The service manual gives no info, but its not written in plain english..epson-eze. - unknown
Commands To Reset> on Power On > Push Buttons:

1. Pause + LF/FF + Micro Adjust v

2. Power Off

As in Section 1.5.1, page 1-24

https://archive.org/details/printermanual-epson-stylus-color-3000-serv ice-manual

3. Must change Refill Pads.
See Manual for instructions on that. A bit complicated as you must pull off the printing arm and it's localized under the ink cartdriges park.
