Apple Apple StyleWriter II

Apple LW II Power Flux

the power draw from my apple laserwriter II seems quite heavy. is there an easy way to test if the power module is in order?

the room lights fluxuate whenever the printer is on, even when it is not printing. also, and i may be imagining this, there may be an odd smell from within the printer after printing, and i am worried it may be burning the fuser.

I think these may be old printers and may have a large power draw as a result. but can anyone confirm that these symptoms are normal?

Thanks, Jordan
The heat lamp kicks on for about a minute when powering up. It also cycles on and off to maintain the temperature. The current draw is close to 10 amps. That's enough to flicker the lights in an older house or apt. The smell could be the ozone exhausting out of the printer. You probably need a new ozone filter. Too bad they are no longer available.

THe smell of ozone is very distinctive... it's that sparky-wire-lightning-storm smell. If that's what you're smelling, then the filter does probably need to be replaced.

If it were "burning" the fuser, you'd know.
